Hi everyone, I am Erin Bianco and welcome to my first blog for BSF! I am from northern Minnesota, a town called Ely, right by the Canadian border. I started skiing when I was three years old at the Minnesota Youth Ski League every Sunday. I will be honest and say I did not enjoy this and only went for snack time. Getting out in the cold on a Sunday was just not for me, but I obviously grew out of that and for the better because that’s basically our whole sport!
From Minnesota I followed my older sister Amy to Colby College in Maine where I majored in Sociology and skied for the Colby Mules under coach Tracey Cote. College skiing was definitely some of my favorite years of ski racing. I developed a lot as a skier and as a person. I really enjoyed the team atmosphere and energy on the EISA circuit. I made some of my best friends and made some big jumps athletically with the incredible coaching from Tracey.
For three summers, I would take the drive out to Bozeman with my friends and train with BSF for June and July. My experience training with the pro team as a college athlete was very beneficial as I learned a lot from the athletes and Andy Newell. I realized just how great of a team vibe they had, something I am so excited to be a part of come June when I move out to Bozeman!!
Some random facts about me!!
- I love to spend time at coffee shops. My go to order is an iced oat milk latte and either a scone or almond croissant.
- I enjoy taking saunas (it’s sow-nah not sah-nah) and playing badminton!
- I have played piano since I was in middle school
- My favorite food is either pasta or sushi
- I love everything that has to do with design (interior, architecture, and fashion)
- My favorite summer training workouts are either strength or road biking
- The best smoothie I make is frozen blueberries, coconut milk, almond butter, and banana (courtesy of my sister)
I was happy to have just spent a week in Bend with some of the BSF athletes. It was my first time skiing in the spring, being in Maine or Minnesota for all of my springs there was not much snow to go around. This camp had great vibes and I am excited to be joining everyone soon in Bozeman come June!!
