On August 15th the BSF Pro Team flew out to Marquette, Michigan for a 10 day summer camp. We had a smooth travel day to the Midwest and were welcomed warmly by Sarah and Reid’s parents where we are staying while here. Their house is in the woods and right by Lake Superior which is so clear and pretty. Between sessions there has been some nice times hanging out in the water and tanning on the sand .
On our first day training out here we took a scenic distance rollerski by the lake. It also went through the town a little bit and was a great way to kick off the camp! For sessions we have been having a focus on speed and hard intensity workouts, as these types of workouts are more effective when we are at sea level. It is nice to have a camp like this because you can push yourself harder and recover faster than when at altitude. It is really good for an altitude based team to have weeks like this to feel going fast!
It’s been nice to have a change of scenery as well. We have found some good paved roads for roller ski sessions and nice trails for running. Running in the Midwest is different than out west as the terrain is more rolling and there is more roots and turns to be aware of! It was cool to run up to a high point and look over some lakes and forest of Michigan. Additionally there is a YMCA where we have been going to do strength sessions a couple times.
All in all, it has been a good time so far at camp and vibes have been fun and happy. The team has been getting some quality training and enjoying the lake life!
