We capped off the month of January with some great racing on our home soil at Lindley Park thanks to BSF for hosting great races! While January was a busy month full of racing, February offered time to reset, recover and gear up our last trip to Soldier Hollow before the Birkie. I’ve never had nearly a month off from racing in February before. Although it was strange to have a month of no official racing, we used this time to build on our January race shape through some epic time trials. Our first time trial was a 20km/30km classic in a blizzard. We used a really fun 10km loop that Heather curated. It was snowy and slow, but it was a really fun, hard effort! After a couple of frigid days in Bozeman, we were able to resume our normal training.
Once it warmed up, our next time trial was a skiathlon with the Crosscut Team. It seems that whenever we plan a time trial, a blizzard also decides to show. It was a fun and challenging race skiing through a ton of fresh powder! It was great to work with Crosscut to simulate a race.
After a couple more races at Soldier Hollow this past Monday and Tuesday, we are now headed to the Birkie! This is my first time at the Birkie, and although it will look different this year, I’m still excited to experience #birkiefever. Check back in for more updates from the Birkie!
