Hey everyone, it’s Graham!

I’m here to give you an update as to what your favorite professional cross country ski team in the US has been up to. We just got back from the mid-west where everyone, except for Logan and Lauren because they’re in Europe, did the Birkie. For everyone there, it was the first “real” Birkie, i.e., going from the start in Cable and finishing on main street in Hayward.

Although this trip was relatively short compared to other trips that we’ve had this year, it was probably the one many of us were the most hyped for. I can report that we all caught the Birkie fever bad this year, with everyone running a temp of 105, haha.

The race was more difficult than it was last year, the field was more competitive and deeper. Although the temps were cold, the snow conditions couldn’t have been any better. For both Reid, Hannah and myself all went for the sprint preems at 2.5 km but Reid was the only one who came away with win. Erika, Hannah, and Mariah all finished with each other with in 9th, 10th, and 11th. The guys were a little more spread out, with Finn 12th, Reid 14th, Simon 17th and me 20th. The team learned many new aspects about marathon racing that will be applied when we head to Whistler for US SuperTour Finals, personally it includes drinking more often than I think I need to. Overall, the trip was a ton of fun and I would say everyone who went had a blast, even if we didnt accomplish the goals that we wanted to.
