Showing up for your athletes requires nuance. Seemingly innocent pep talks or references to the results can send the message that you only care about the results, or that their performance might disappoint you. And what we're learning is that when "we" (coach, athlete, & parent) focus on the process and the effort instead of the results, athletes will likely perform better and enjoy it more.
