The BSF Skimo Team headed to the Whitefish Whiteout, a USA Skimo National Cup event and Big Sky Skimo Cup race number 3. Race day was a powder day, making the skin track more slippery but the steep skiing more fun!
Owen Dinkins, age 14 , finished the Green Course including two climbs and one boot pack in 5th place with a time of 1 hour 15 min 10 sec. This was Owen’s fourth race of the season! Nice job Owen!
Isaac Spencer, age 13, competed in the Blue Course with a time of 2 hrs 22min and 20 seconds. This course consisted of three climbs! This was Isaac’s second race of the season and he did great, finishing 9th in a field of senior racers with a time of 2 hours 22 minutes, putting him first in his age group.
Drake Fricke, age 18, racing his first season of Skimo, completed the Black Course with a total of over 5,000 ft. of climbing and skiing! He finished in 16th place overall with a time of 2 hrs 2min amongst a fast field of senior racers. He was second in his age group of U20. Drake was also the King of the Ridge in the Bridger Bowl King and Queen event earlier this month! Congratulations Drake!
The team has also had many racers partaking in the BearSkin weekly series on Wednesday nights. Everyone is improving their skills and having fun together. The team looks forward to our next event, the Shedhorn at Big Sky.
