The BSF Nordic Comp and Devo Pro teams wrapped up the final Junior National Qualifier (JNQ) races of the season in Sun Valley, Idaho, this past weekend with over 30 athletes representing BSF. Saturday's sunny and picturesque classic sprint day proved to be favorable for BSF athletes with club representation on every age group and gender podium U14 and above! The heats that took place throughout the day were a clear demonstration of the teamwork and comradery that the team has developed and fostered.

Sunday's mass start skate races unfolded amidst a constant and unrelenting dusting of fresh powder. Athletes made the most of these challenging conditions by skiing with teammates and staying out to cheer for all of the other races.

Sunday's results finalized the contingent of athletes that will represent the Intermountain Division (MT, ID, UT, WY) at Junior Nationals in two weeks. Thirteen BSF athletes made the list, along with one alum, and a couple of MSU and MEA skiers.

The BSF team will be in town, enjoying some warmer conditions and getting ready for the last few races of the season. Devo and Devo Pro will be headed to Intermountain Youth Championships in Driggs, Idaho, this coming weekend while the Comp team will stick around for another week and half before heading down to Utah for Junior Nationals and Western Club Championships.

Nordic Nations Cup

Each year, the U.S. puts together a team of U18 skiers to travel to Scandinavia for the Nordic Nations Cup, with skiers being invited based on their performance at U.S. Nationals in January. The National Nordic Foundation helps to fund the trip, giving young skiers their first chance at an international racing experience. BSF's Tula Higman made the trip, earning a spot among the U18s despite only being a U16 skier. BSF skier Callahan Waters qualified for the men's team.

The U.S. women made a strong impression among the junior Norwegian skiers, with Tula contributing a 5th place in the 7.5km mass free start.
